Fox News host Glenn Beck has really stepped his crazy game up. I mean seriously, Glenn has been spouting out more right-wing fringe nonsense than Ann Coulter at a book signing. Beck is quickly becoming the voice for the underrepresented in the U.S.: the AR-15 toting, 2nd Amendment chanting, psycho class. Maybe it's because his new set design and his cool new logo have gone to his head or maybe it's because he actually is that crazy. Beck has been relentlessly attacking the President as of late calling him a radical and a communist. Beck has certainly stirred up a media shit storm over his recent comments on Fox and Friends. Beck said he believes Barack Obama is 'a racist' and has 'a deep-seated hatred for White people or white culture.' On his own 'show' Beck ranted, “Barack Obama did not campaign on openly changing the whole system… Based on the fact that (Obama) will not reject this man and others like him in this administration, I’m beginning to wonder. Didn’t Venezuela, didn’t Chavez… wasn’t he ‘democratically’ elected? I don’t believe he campaigned as a communist. But boy, things sure changed once he got into office. President Obama did leave telltale signs."

Beck's antics have not gone unnoticed as the the folks over at colorofhange.org have lobbied advertisers to withdraw their ads from Beck's show. I'm not sure of how much lobbying had to be done as it seems Glenny boy doesn't need anyones help.

Shinya Aoki is one of the top 155lb fighters in the world but putting him against Fedor the top heavyweight in the World is a joke. M1 should be ashamed for putting this fight together. You can only guess how this joke of a fight turned out. I haven't done my research but I hope to Bob this wasn't a PPV event. People paid to see these top two fighters in M1 go at and what they got was a shit-box and an insult.

Day 4 of Swine Flu house arrest and I have nothing better to do but check out websites like Pitchfork, read, watch Lost and not do school work. The highlight of today has no doubt been stumbling on one of the best music videos I've seen in forever. Matt and Kim's video for their track Lessons Learned is pretty damn great. Shot during winter and showcasing a strip down of both artists in the middle of Times Square, I would say the duo well achieved their goal of making a video that showcases Matt's new found maxim to "not give a fuck anymore." The song is pretty money as well.

It's been a while since I've posted a banger and even though I am yet to hear My Maudlin Career in its entirety, I am really diggin' this one tune I was able to grab of EMusic before my downloads for the month ran out. The tune in question is Camera Obscura's French Navy, which can be found on their latest album, My Maudlin Career. I fell for this song immediately. Tracyanne Campbell's voice flies gracefully and with ease over the entire track and everything about it is inviting. Some might say this is a summer tune, some might say it is a little downbeat, I just say it's great. Check out the video below and the track on the sidebar.

REVIEW: K-Os, Asher Roth and Chester French

I've been bumping a few new albums lately and I thought I'd share my opinion and invite everyone to share theirs.

K-Os - Yes! 2009 Nettwerk/Universal

The 4th full length album from K-Os entitled Yes! gets back to his hip-hop roots. As we have seen K-Os progress musically. He is a type of artist that habitually blurs genre lines, as many hipsters do. Yes! is definitely an album that returns to the b-boy style that made K-Os popular in the first place. Although K-Os has always had an ability to craft unique songs. Yes! shows that K-Os has matured as a song writer. This is a quality album with some great concepts and well designed songs.

Although the entire album is worth popping in the ride and banging for the Summer. My absolute favorite tracks from the album are, I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman, 4,3,2,1 and Fun!. I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman samples Phantom Planet's California and according to K-Os the song has nothing to do with Portman but it is more a story about his overcoming his fear of the U.S. and willingness to embrace new audiences. K-Os believes that Natalie Portman represents the best of what America has to offer. And if she is inspiring him to make songs like he is, who is to disagree. 4,3,2,1 is a take on the Feist track with the reciprocal title. Break beats and slick rhymes fill this single, watch the video below for the full appreciation.

Asher Roth - Asleep in the Bread Aisle 2009 Universal Motown

Middle-class minutiae with hot production makes Asher Roth's major label debut an interesting one to say the least. Songs about weed, girls and blah are exactly what the labels are looking for an Roth delivers. While his content may lack a little depth and his lyricism lazy at times, Asher brings the fire on the majority of his album. While he does hear the comparisons to Eminem and addresses them through a track called As I Em the Roth album is not disappointing. In my opinion Roth sounds A LOT like old school Eminem which I think is a good thing. We have been craving that sort of sound for a long time and Asher Roth delivers. Roth has been receiving a lot of fan fare and has already released two singles, I Love College and Lark on my Go-Kart. Lark on My Go-Kart is a throw back to classic Eminem over a really rugged beat and I love it. The album is a good listen and I will definitely recommend popping it in the whip this Summer.

Chester French - Love the Future 2009 Star Trak

The signing war is over for Harvard Grad Hipster Pop Rockers Chester French. With the likes of Jimmy Iovine, Pharrel Williams and Kanye West trying to get a piece of these guys, the hype for their debut album Love the Future debuting on Pharrel's Star Trak Records is large. The Myspace superstars have a strong presences in the U.S. but Chester French doesn't seem to have the same presence in Canada. They are likely to be most popular in hipster circles with an eye for bizarre trendyness. Chester French's sound has been co-signed but virtually everyone in the hip hop scene. Weird. They are featured on Asher Roth's album,they have a song with Kardinal Offishal and are receiving major props and co-signage from Clinton Sparks. Talk about a diverse resume, they've got it. These guys have a melancholy pop sound combined with Beatles influenced vocals and typical hipster attire. I don't know if I'm completely sold of Chester French yet. Don't get me wrong these guys are talented, their early Beatles sounding track Out At the Compound is probably my fav, followed by their first single She Loves Everybody and the track People. There are a lot of fun sounding tracks they you will eventually hear at Absinthe on a Wednesday and Saturday. I wouldn't be deliberately banging this album all Summer ... maybe for a bit though.

Chester French - She Loves Everybody

All in all these are three really well put together albums that have something for everyone in each. K-Os is really blooming into magnificent artist and is another example of CanCon that has more talent then half the U.S. scene. Asher Roth puts for a strong effort in his debut, I don't know how long he will be able to stick around for but we can always hope for the best. Chester French are a talented hipsters team that have been signed by a talented hipster in Pharrel Williams so expect them to receive the most fanfare from the three albums. K-Os Yes! is my pick.

If you are still one of those people that are still asking, "What is Twitter?" or "I don't get Twitter." You are probably a Twater (Twitter Hater) or you are genuinely disconnected from life because Twitter has received more press than the Iraq War, Watergate and Hiroshima combined in the past 3 months. Get with the bloody times and Google something for Bob's sake. Twitter may not be for everyone but it is for at least 10 million people around the world and growing by absurd amounts daily... sorta like ahhhfuckit ahah I kid.

It was only a matter of time before someone did it, look out for the Twaters.

To be honest, I have no idea why I want to know what you are saying, but forget that for a second, and answer me this, WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? Remember when you shocked the world and snagged Julia Roberts? I have to ask you though, is she as annoying in real life as she is in most of her movies? What was the line you spit to snag her? Was it "Hey, my name is Lyle LOVEtt, what are you saying Julia?" Probably not eh. Or did you just sing If I Had a Boat and watch her melt? A lot of people say they prefer Dave Matthew's cover version of that song, but you know what Lyle, I think yours is better, so I mean if you are standing on the edge of a cliff two steps away from jumping take comfort in knowing that Mike Black thinks your one tune is pretty rad. Lollapalooza Lineup Announced.

Well folks, the last of the big name North American summer festivals has been announced. Lollapalooza 2009 will once again take place at Grant Park in Chicago over August 7-9. The lineup isn't exactly shitty, but it does seem a little stale. It might be that Tool really isn't doing it for me these days or maybe that most of these bands have already been billed on the other festivals. Take a look for yourself and make some comments below. I will say that considering I was unable to attend Coachella and Bonnaroo this year, I would absolutely still consider this festival a viable option.

Wrestlemania XXV in Houston, Texas housed over 70,000 fans last Sunday and it was full of great matches (Undertaker v. Shawn Michaels and special moments (Hall of Fame). This years inductees to the WWE Hall of Fame included the likes of "Cowboy" Bill Watts, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and Koko B. Ware. The keynote inductee however was as Vince McMahon put it, "the greatest superstar in the history of the WWE," Stone Cold Steve Austin.

It's been a while since we've hit you with a Certified Banger and this banger comes right out of our home town of Hamilton.

Stealth Elementz has been making music out of Hamilton on his own and with Premium Plus for nearly ten years. I have had the extreme pleasure of making music with Stealth for the majority of those years and he continues to improve with every track he releases. Stealth has been working behind the scenes pounding out new tracks for an eventual solo project or a new Premium Plus album. Stealth and Premium Plus have shared the stage with Canadian hip hop icons Choclair and Classified. Premium Plus were also nominated for Best Rap Album for the 2008 Hamilton Music Awards.

Weirdo Interview: Billy Bob Thornton

Celebrity interviews aren't really news until the celebrity goes completely off the handle or becomes just plain ol' weird. There is something about celebrity insanity that grips us as a people and by people I mean humanity. In retrospect we will deny our celeb obsession like Judas did Christ (Happy Easter/Passover) but we all know humans have an ear for gossip and we love it.

For the most part, celebrity interviews are based on publicity or promotion. It is truly rare to get a good news quality interview out of celebrities. That's why when interviews get a little creepy and weird they in fact become news (no matter how non-essential it seems.)

Tom Cruise made headlines for his bizarre appearance on Oprah. This sparked speculation into the Church of Scientology and Tom Cruise's affiliation to the organization.

Joaquin Phoenix recently made headlines for being a weirdo on Letterman. His mental state is now being called into question.

The latest weirdo interview to make news is from CBC radio and Billy Bob Thornton. Billy Bob was with his band the Boxmasters on QTV with Jian Ghomeshi promoting their music. The Boxmasters are currently touring Canada with Willie Nelson. Billy Bob had asked the producers of the show to not mention his film career at all during the interview. I guess Ghomeshi crossed the line by trying to give context to a relatively unknown band. Billy Bob took exception to this and stonewalled Ghomeshi for the rest of the interview. He also called Canadian audiences reserved, describing them as 'mashed potatoes without the gravy."

On the CBC blog you can find 100's of comments from people upset at Billy Bob's comments but I would say some Canadians are being a little over sensitive. Take some criticism for once without getting so uptight, jeez. Billy Bob was being a jerk, plain and simple. I don't consider this news... but it is WEIRD and there is video of it, so we eat it up.

Kanye West on South Park: He's a Gay Fish

Kanye West got MURDERED last night on South Park, his words, not mine. I've thrown down the clip below, I am sure it is only a matter of time before it gets taken down, so I hope you catch it before it does because it's pretty funny. Now as we should expect, Kanye has already made his rebuttal. You can find his whole response at his blog here. In what reads like an confessional story, Kanye actually types, "I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM." Please excuse the capitals, but they are crucial when trying to convey Kanye speak.

Tegan is a cunt

The Tegan I refer to is the Tegan from the boring 'indie' band Tegan and Sara. The reason I refer to her as a cunt is because of her recent twitter post, that went something like this:

"saw adventureland last night. if i have to c 1 more movie about indie rock nerd who sleeps with a hot girl to my fave music..ugh."

I have a number of problems with this comment. First, to complain that films are featuring 'indie rock nerds' sleeping with a hot girl is absolutely ridiculous. Does Tegan not understand that movie characters like this are challenging movie archetypes? Would she rather movies return to featuring 'popular jock types' as the main characters like so many 21st century films? I mean if she were complaining about seeing another movie featuring a white indie rock nerd or straight indie rock nerd I could understand her complaints. Today's media does not do a good job representing racial diversity or sexual diversity. But, alas, she's not, she's just complaining for the sake of complaining, or for the sake of having an 'alternative' view.

Second, to refer to the music in Adventureland as her fave music is hilarious. The entire soundtrack is based on music from the 80s, featuring bands like Velvet Underground, Husker Du and Lou Reed. Is Tegan even old enough to remember the 80s? Does Tegan think she is the only person in the world who has listened to Lou Reed? I mean, obviously Tegan isn't the greatest at picking up on subtle jokes and cultural criticisms in film. The movie was obviously making a biting observation about people's obsession with Lou Reed in the late 80s. Not only that, but would Tegan rather movies be soundtracked by shitty bands? Would she rather have watched another tween romance soundtracked by Rise Against or some other bad band? Or is Tegan one of those lame people who only likes music until it gets popular?

Third, this criticism would have been much more accurate if it was written about Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Now that was a movie that was clearly looking to benefit from its connection to indie rock, and it also featured indie rock nerd pinup Michael Cera. But again, I think it comes down to the fact that Tegan probably doesn't have any real taste in film and was just trying to sound cool hating on a fairly good film.

I could go on, but than I think I might be treading the fine line of splitting hairs. Come to think of it, Tegan and Sara haven't had problems getting into bed with corporate interests before, think Roger's Picnic or numerous licensing of their songs, maybe she's pissed that her band hasn't been asked to contribute a song to any of these 'indie rock nerd sleeps with a hot girl' films in a minute now. I guess coming to the realization that you aren't as relevant as you once were is tough to come to grips with, so lashing out at a decent film is a way to deal with those feelings.

I know, a day late on the internet is like being a year late, but I thought I would still post about it anyways.

Remember way back in 2008 when I posted about the imminent release of Eminem's Relapse? Well, 6 months later and finally we have a firm release date for the new LP. The album will come out on Aftermath/Shady on 19 May 2009, and apparently this album will be followed up by the Relapse 2 sometime by the end of 2009. Call me cynical, but I wont hold my breath on that one coming out anytime soon. Anyways, moving along, yesterday saw the release of the Relapse's first official video single, "We Made You". As with so many other official videos, the record label has asked to have youtube embedding disabled, so if you want to check it out you will have to go here.

Also, remember how I said that the new Eminem sounded really juvenile and that I wasn't sure how his antics would fit in today's social and political climate? Well, looks like I was right. This song (and video) seems like it was made specifically for 'angry' 14 year olds, and it seems as though Eminem has regressed rather than matured in his time away from the spotlight. I was hoping for some retrospection from Em's new material, yet it seems that all we are going to get is some stupid celebrity references and a dress up party. This sucks.

To YTV hosting the HIT LIST. Tarzan knew where it was at, this dude has played strictly certified bangers his entire life. Tarzan Dan has made a career of counting to 10, how many people can say that? But what the hell is he up to now? Well, besides having broadcast in every major city west of T Dot, Tarzan Dan is STILL doing radio for SUN FM in Kelowna, BC. Although his myspace page has been either canceled or deleted he is still somewhat active on YouTube, his account (if you wanna friend him up) is TarzanDan1. He comments on old videos of himself, damn he is good. You don't really appreciate a good radio personality 'til you lose one.

In preparation for my trip to San Francisco next week, I threw on The Rock today to get a little taste of Alcatraz and the San Fran Bay. The film still holds up pretty well and while Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer have made their fair share of shit sandwiches, this might be their golden cow. Nicolas Cage is still annoying as hell as he is in most films, but Sir Sean and Ed Harris make up the slack. In short, it's just a solid, entertaining action film that I thought was pretty money as a teenager. I've decided to throw up one of the more popular and ultimately most shitty lines from the film. Live Music Preview: Peter Gabriel and Travis Live in Monterrey, Mexico

My friend Nicole and I just snagged a couple of tickets to check out Peter Gabriel and Travis when they roll into Monterrey this Tuesday. I don't expect a lot of readers to be huge Gabriel fans, and the fact that he was in Genesis might not mean much to anyone either, but there was no way I could miss this show. I'm not a huge Genesis fan, but Gabriel's 1986 solo album SO might just slide into my Top 5 records of all time. It's an album I remember vividly from my childhood and when I bought my own copy a few years back I was surprised to find how many of the lyrics I had memorized as a child. Apart from the obvious hits of Sledgehammer, In Your Eyes, and Big Time, the album also features a blend of emotionally charged and experimental tunes that leave you with the feeling that you have truly digested a great album when the final number wraps up. I've never seen Gabriel live, but anyone that I've talked to who has tells me his live set is just unreal. So I am pretty interested to see how Tuesday will unravel. I plan to shoot some footage and I'll throw it up if I am successful.

As for Travis, I think the last time I saw them was in support for Oasis a few years back. They played alright and I use to dig them, but that was until I decided they are as boring as hell and I started to grow out of my Brit Pop obsession, but I'm sure 'Why Does It Always Rain on Me' will sound good after a cerveza or three. Season 2 of the series The Flight of the Conchords has wrapped up and judging by the finale and internet gossip, there is chance that we have witnessed the end of the show. Season 2 had it's share of dull moments, but overall it was pretty tight. The songs were great and the last 3 episodes kicked some serious ass. I hope this is not the last we will see of these guys. I mean what the else is the actress who plays Mel going to do? I've included a video clip from the last episode that I feel showcases the genius of the show. The clip features the Conchords engaged in a 'Everyday Sounds' jam that just makes me laugh to myself. Jemaine's use of the pigeons is classic. Also, if anyone knows where I can pick myself up a pair of those Penguin pyjamas that Bret is sporting please throw the information down in the comment box because I need to pick some up.

Today, March 28th 2009 is the day when we are asked to switch off our lights for an hour to observe and call attention to the problem of Global Warming and thus cast our vote to take action against the problems we are facing as a planet with Climate Change. The hour in question is from 8:30 to 9:30 in your local time zone and if you want to check out the full details of the event you can head here.

Now at risk of sounding preachy or shitty, I want to throw out some information about this event. This will be my first year participating in Earth Hour. One of the guys that sings in the band that I am playing with down here in ol' Mex asked me if I would join him on a few tunes acoustically during the hour at a candle lit house party. I was quick to accept and looked into the event a little more and I have to say I think it is pretty interesting. So, I thought I would throw up the video that is circling You Tube about the event. Yes, the video is cheesy as hell, but I think it does the cause justice. Whether you think climate change is a crock of shit or not, this event is something that I think is within everyone's reach to participate in. If for nothing else it can at least call attention to how much we have come to rely on technology and increase awareness of the overall consumption of resources that we partake in every day. Check the video and consider taking part in the event, I mean what else do you really have to do tonight? Booze? Make Out? Take a shit? All 3 of those things can be done in the dark, so you have no excuse.

Tim Edwards didn't have much to look forward to in his life. He didn't have much of a life at all, actually. Tim is homeless, he suffers from alcohol addiction and drug problems. He lives under a bridge in Houston, Texas where he panhandles for food and money every day. Charity is what Tim survives on and a very strange charity is what has changed his life.

One day, as Tim panhandled near the freeway, (close to where he lives) he was approached with a unique proposition by father and son marketing duo, Sean and Kevin Dolan.

Sean and Kevin saw Tim, holding up a sign near a busy freeway that read, "Hungry, Need a day's work." Tim told Kevin and Sean that he had been homeless for the past four years and that he knew what time the freeways were 'hittin.' They asked if he would hold up a sign with their website http://WWW.PIMPTHISBUM.COM for $100 a day, guaranteed. Not a bad gig for someone who panhandles for a living.

Tim agreed and the traffic began rolling in. The outpour of support for Time was incredible. People were given the option to donate specific items to Tim, which inculded: a cup of coffee, a ham sandwich, laser hair removal, karate lessons and more.

Tim received more. He was given another shot at life through this website and through the campaign. Tim has landed himself in a Seattle alcohol rehab clinic and reunited with family he thought were lost years ago. *tear* He is also receiving training on how to use the internet to search for jobs and develop new skills that will get him on his feet.

Some interesting stats about the site:

It raised $50,000, a flight to Seattle from Southwest Airlines and Sunray paid for Tim's rehab.

From rehab, Tim participated in a chat room where he could engage with the thousands of people who have expressed their affection for him. It also gave him an opportunity to thank everyone for their support. *another tear*

www.pimpthisbum.com is a unique marketing and social engagement campaign that have received a lot of heat from homeless advocates. The website has been called degrading, insensitive and exploitative. Homeless advocates claim this website does nothing to address the issue of homelessness in America.

Tim feels differently, seeing as how he is homeless, lives in America and thousands and thousands of people frequent this site to find out how they can help.

Personally, I think the campaign is effective and obviously successful. Did Sean and Kevin save a hundred homeless people? No, but did they positively change the life of a man who was truly down and out? Yes.

Poll Feature: Pavement

So I thought I'd try to showcase a few of these bands in our "Which band would you most like to see reunite," poll this week. First up, Pavement. Now, if you aren't up on this band, here are some facts to bring you up to speed.

Huge Cult band of the 90's who never signed to a major label.

Lead Singer Stephen Malkmus dissed The Smashing Pumpkins in the tune 'Range Life,' which resulted in a verbal war between the two men, which would go on to last several years.

Original drummer Gary Young was a local hippie who would get wasted, hand out cabbage and mashed potatoes to the crowd, then fall drunkenly off his drum stool. He later was bounced from the band for allegedly pulling a gun on Stephen Malkmus.

I've included a few videos of the band for you to get a feel for them. The live footage from 94' is pretty great all things considering. Perhaps, the first thing you will notice is how relevant and contemporary these tunes sound, which we all know marks the sign of great tunes. Enjoy the music and consider Pavement for your vote. One of the things I've noticed while surfing online music publications and music related blogs is that there is a shit load of MP3 covers out there. Some of them are good, but most of them are actually really bad, or in some extreme cases, just little hipster kids being annoying. With that being said, I've decided to start a little reoccurring column on ahhh, fuck it, that will essentially sift through all of the covers out there and report on only the good ones. The column will henceforth be referred to as 'Covers:'. I know right, pretty original name. If this column would have started a few months ago, the first entry would have undoubtably been the Vivian Girls' cover of the Beach Boys' classic "Surfs Up". But, it's not a few months ago, so the inaugural song will be the newly released cover of the Zombies' "Hung Up On A Dream" by The Tough Alliance.

It's been a minute now since we've heard from The Tough Alliance. They've probably been busy releasing some essential Sweedish music on their label, but just last week this track surfaced on the interweb. I'm not sure what this means for the band; if a new LP is eminent or if this is just a one off track. Either way, the cover is definitely a keeper. Covers usually emerge in two different forms: as a completely faithful rendition of the song or as a reworked vision by the covering band. This cover falls into the latter category with The Tough Alliance applying their own brand of pop electronic sound to the track, yet the bare bones of what made this song a classic to begin with remain, and we are left with a nice re-imagining of the track.

This cover is in no way groundbreaking or mind blowing, yet it also isn't, in any way, cringe inducing. This cover should make it's way onto anyone's spring mix (assuming people are still making spring mixes), and it helps shine the light on a band that seems to get lost in the mix when people are having discussions about great 60s pop acts (assuming people still have these types of discussions).

2009 has witnessed an almost rebirth of independent music. No, I'm not talking about the increasingly corporate genre of 'indie rock', although it could be argued that there have been a number of good 'indie rock' releases this year as well, rather, I'm referring more generally to the music being made by people who fall outside the reach of any of the major indie record labels or major labels. These musical acts have bestowed upon us a heap of incredibly good material over the course of the first three months of 2009. I've found myself enjoying more of the music that I have been exposed to over the past three months than I did over the course of the entire 2008 calender year. Arguably, a number of these bands are riding the waves of the internet hype machine, and they may never release another solid record or single, but that doesn't mean that these songs hit home any less.

Briefly, here are some bands and/or musicians that deserve your ear. I've included a link to the song as well as a link to where you can find more of their music. Click on the song name to hear the music. I could probably list about 25 songs you should hear, but I'll keep the list somewhat trim to avoid overwhelming anyone.

Also, if you haven't already heard, the new Grizzly Bear LP, Veckatimest, is really really good. There are plenty of leaks floating around the interweb right now, and before any of you do-gooders out there complain about the ethical issues underlying leaks and piracy, band leader Ed Droste has already given his blessings to eager fans wanting to hear the new LP. So just do a quick search for a Veckatimest torrent and I'm sure you can find something. If you're too lazy to do that, I'll include a youtube clip of the band performing at SXSW 09. This track probably deserves a certified banger post, but I just don't have the time at the moment, and I've read way too much already about this album, so writing about it would seem almost redundant, and most definitely, unoriginal.

A couple other things:

Start getting excited now, Sunset Rubdown has announced the release date of their follow up to 2007's brilliant Random Spirit Dreaming LP. The disc is entitled Dragonslayer, and will be available via Jagjaguwar on 23 June 2009. If album art work is any indication of what to expect from the LP, than Dragonslayer looks to be pretty badass.

Art Brut also has a new LP due in the near future. The record is called Art Brut vs. Satan, and from initial listens, I would have to say that this album seems to be a return to Bang Bang Rock n' Roll-era Art Brut. The album is due 12 May 2009.

And finally, Wilco *yawn* has apparently recorded a follow up to 2007's incredibly boring, yet surely a favourite among indie dads, Sky Blue Sky. (did I actually just use ** in a post? ugh) The album, which is yet to be christened with a name, is due sometime in June. I know, that's some pretty vague news, but hey, maybe Wilco is trying to build some pre release hype, and after that last album I can't say I can blame them for trying a shameless publicity stunt. Or maybe, the band is finding it difficult to come up with an even more lame or rock cliched title than Sky Blue Sky or A Ghost Is Born. Word on the street is that Feist will be contributing some vocals to this album. In the past this kind of news may have excited me, but a 2009 collaboration between Feist and Wilco is more of a corporate advertiser's wet dream than mine.

Fox News has never been the epicentre of morality nor has it been a champion of social justice. Fox News is mostly known for its consortium of horrendously right-winged neo-cons who spew some of the most unconscionable mis-information to millions and millions of American citizens, who are (for the most part) pretty impressionable.

Fox regularly hosts guests such as Ann Coulter, whose insidious remarks have made her the golden girl for the right. They also made her a best-selling columnist/terroist.

As for talent, well Fox doesn't spare a dime when it comes to investing in its talent pool. Incredible non-journalists who continue to ruin the profession for every young J-School student in the entire world such as: Michelle Malkin, Big Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.

For the most part we aren't surprised when we see a preposterous take on realityby Fox News but this next video takes the cake. Not only is it full of arrogance and mis-information it is down right disrespectful and disgusting. We all understand the right to free speech and we love our freedoms in North America, but these guys need to be muzzled.

FOX News show Red Eye with Greg Gutfield is a white, low-brow, red-necked opinion show. It's actively participating in a secret campaign to destroy any and all possibility of achieving foreign relations with the outside world, by way of youtube clips. Since the Neilson Ratings report that nobody actually stays up until 3AM to watch this shit people have taken to PVRing episodes.

As a preamble to this clip, I'd like to show what I mean by how this show is contributing to the United States anti foreign relations 'brand' that Dubya's regime produced.

Red Eye's host Greg Gutfield and his pals have a running joke that Greg has "houseboys" of various ethnicities. These houseboys are unpaid, and are acquired through advertisements in foreign papers for students wishing to "learn a skill abroad." Some houseboys are said to have suffered an untimely demise. Popular houseboys from the past include "Dat Ho," allegedly Vietnamese, "Julio," intentionally mispronounced "Julie-Oh" with a j-sound, and the Greek "Pilates." Occasionally, the houseboy reference is altered to that of a "pool boy." Greg is always clear that every houseboy that he employs is over the age of 18, although the veracity of his claims is always subject to mirthful skepticism from the panelists.

Spanish Music Videos

Well, I've been down here in Mexico for almost two years now and my Spanish is finally starting to come along. I play guitar in a teacher band down here and we are trying to add a few Spanish tunes to our catalog, so I thought I would finally throw up some Spanish music videos. The first video is from Julieta Venegas, who was born in Long Beach California, but was raised in Tijuana. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and her track Eres para Mi is one of the songs we are trying to add. Now, I think the song is pretty catchy, but you might not. However, I don't think anyone can deny that the Octopus handing out the tickets in the video is money. The second clip comes from Manu Chao, who is even more interesting. Born in France, Chao is now a singer/politicial activist who sings in many languages including French, Spanish, Portuguese and English. For all you guitar players, the trend for Spanish influenced pop musicians is to rely heavily on the up stroke for their rhythm parts, which leads to overall laid back feeling of the tunes. If you are not feeling the Julieta track, I am sure you will find the Chao track a little more accessible. It's been a while since we've had a blast from the past.

Aaliyah's death was one of the most tragic stories in music history. Her talent was much beyond her years, proving to everyone at 16 that age ain't nuthin but a number.
The album Age Ain't Nuthin But A Number ('94) made Aaliyah a household name. It was actually in Red's household where I first came across the CD and fell in love with it shortly there after. Back and Forth and the subsequent remix featuring none other than (alleged) prepubescent predator R. Kelly. Aaliyah appeared on about every one of my mix tapes from back in the day. I'd just like to remind everyone about how awesome and beautiful Aaliyah really was.

This album has been out for a while now, but I've been busier than a Mexican roofer, and believe me they work their fuckin' asses off, so without any further ado, here is a new track. Knotty Pine is a collaboration between The Dirty Projectors and David Byrne that wound up on the Dark was the Night charity compilation . The result is a vocal masterpiece. Just give it a listen and without a doubt you will say to yourself, "Man, this chick can sing." And then a few seconds later you will think, "Holy fuck, then the guy comes in and harmonizes the shit out of the song, fuck, they both can really sing." Of course the track will be available on the sidebar, but I have also included a live performance of the band playing the track and explaining how they wound up on the Dark was the Night charity compilation. Radiohead: Live in Mexico City

This weekend, I slid on down to Mexico City, lone wolf styles, to see Radiohead. If you've ever heard anything about Mexico City, it probably was in reference to how over crowded, violent, dirty and dangerous it is. Now, I'm not saying that it can't be all of those things, but I can say that I had a great, safe weekend with minimal moments of fear. I do have to be honest and say that one guy came out of nowhere and creeped the shit out of me while I was reading in the park, but I mean that could happen anywhere in the world at any given time. However, if there are any demons walking on Earth, I can say that I've now had two demon encounters and one of them was this weekend, the other one, well, I don't want to talk about her.

Now, onto the show. First of all, I found Foro Sol to be a beautiful concert venue. It's a wide open baseball stadium with a gigantic floor and I just had to smile at the fact that I could see airplanes landing and taking off in the distance the whole time during the set. It was just really comforting to be enclosed with all those other fans, so focused on the show and oblivious to the whir of the madness of the modern world around us. The capacity for the venue is apparently 50, 000 and while I don't think there was that many people there last night, there were a lot of fuckin' people. I feel like any words I say here about the set are not going to do it any justice, so let me say this, it was amazing. I mean I could on and on and try to explain how great it was to hear thousands of Mexi's singing along in broken English to Fake Plastic Trees, or how great that rush was when those lights went out and Phil unleashed into the first few beats of 15 Step, but sometimes you just have to be there to know what it's all about.

Radiohead are one of few bands left from my youth that continue to get better with each album and their live set just continues to amaze me. Whether it's the intriguing light show, Yorke's new found 'Jagger swagger' or the beautiful music in general, there is always something to keep your attention. If you haven't seen the band by now, stop wasting your life and grab a ticket to one their shows because this is a band who are in their prime and I can't imagine anyone who enjoys their music to be disappointed with their live show.

I visited the Calgary Zoo and snapped a whole bunch of wildlife pics. The Siberian Tiger was hamming it up for the camera. The Lowland Mountain Gorillas were amazing. There were two females, a male (who was so huge the picture doesn't do him any justice)and a teeny-tiny baby who was full of energy. The highlight of the gorillas was a moment I wish I had on film, one of the female gorillas picked up a green tub and smashed the other female on the back with it. Incredible. The hippos were fat and just ate all the time, the spider monkeys were personable and came up to visit. Do yourself a favor this summer and get out to your local zoo or go wild at African Lion Safari. THE WILDEST PLCE ON EARTH!

Our poll for this week asks you to select your favourite Radiohead album. When you consider those albums, you have to just shake your head and think, "man it is tough to choose just one," which is why I wasn't able to and I chose the cop out vote. I must give credit though for the poll idea, as an old ladyfriend and fellow avid music fan suggested the idea to me. Considering I am making the trip down to Mexico City this weekend to see the band, I thought it was more than fitting to have it as the poll for this week. Now, Radiohead are notorious for great music videos, so I thought it would be wise to throw one up. This was equally tough to select, but I'm happy with my choice. As for last week's poll, Steve Martin received the most votes as actor who needs to just hurry up and retire already. Pigeon John and Flynn Adam, collectively known as Rootbeer dropped their debut EP entitled The Pink Limousine on March 10. It's a really upbeat record that is definitely worth a listen. No official music videos yet but they do have a bunch of live footage. If you want to hear more of what they describe as "MGMT injected with some N.E.R.D and A Tribe Called Quest." The I recommend checking out their MYSPACE.

I'm sorta falling in love with this EP really quickly. It's got some awesome samples from my favourite Beastie Boys album Paul's Boutique. I would say they sound like a mature Black Eyed Peas. Heavy on that L.A. pop, awesome on the ears, for real.

I guess Trent isn't feeling Cornell's new R&B experiment with Timbaland. The track is called Scream.

Trent's jab has taken literally less than an hour to get major traffic and @replys. Trent has over 30 000 followers on Twitter and a lot of them tend to agree with his opinion. I was at a birthday party for a friend this afternoon and for some reason Ginuwine's Pony drifted into the conversation. I have no idea what spawned this thought, but I thought it was pretty important to add it on here nonetheless.

The lyrics could not be more obvious that ol' Ginuwine wants to get shit on and based on the repetitive nature of the song, it clearly illustrates the quality music that was being produced in 1996.

I've had some incredible opportunities not only to travel across this great nation of ours but I've also had the chance to live and work in three provinces (Ontario, Alberta and Nova Scotia). These opportunities have exposed me to all sorts of unique people and incredible talents. And by incredible talents I mean ridiculous street musicians.

I'm planning on video taping any and every interesting or just plain ridiculous street musician I see from now on because they provide some great content for the blog.

My first two videos will feature an artist from Nanaimo, British Columbia. A soul-filled blues diddy that amazed my Mohawk College vball teammates. Show Me Some Mountains

Last weekend me and the LF hit up Banff and Lake Louise for a romance getaway and let me tell you the aesthetics of these places are not justifiable by photograph alone. Do yourself a favor in life and travel around Canada because there are some truly breathtaking places that we tend to take for granted. This was my first time out in the Banff/Lake Louise area, take a gander at some of the pics I snapped.

The picture above is from Lake Louise. This little river connects to the bigger Lake and is right beside the extraordinarily posh Fairmont Lake Louise hotel.

Smeds called us out out for a post on Asher Roth's I love College and we here at Ahhhfuckit listen to feedback, so here it is. Now, Asher has not caught on at all down here in Mexico, but I am sure he is blowing the shit out of the U.S. and Canada right now. Sounding like a younger Enimem before he got so jaded, Roth's track is a musing on the joy of youth and the never ending party that is college. I would love to see some people comment below on what they think of this guy because upon researching the track I came upon this reaction from a Youtube user:

At first i didn't think this could be serious, I thought it was a satire....then I realized no, it REALLY IS a compilation of everything wrong and pathetic and weak and slimy and disgusting and retarded and shamelessly moronic and unbearably saddening about humanity.

She is signed to one of my favourite labels in Kill Rock Stars, and the track that I have decided to feature is Bag of Hammers. I am really feeling this track right now and the video I've included down below does not suck either. I'm pretty sure that once you hear this, it will be stuck in your head for a few days.

Ross Kemp is an award winning journalist and all around bad ass. Ross Kemp On Gangs is one of the most astonishing documentary series I have ever watched. Kemp travels country to country meeting some of the most nefarious and ruthless people on the planet.

I guess dealing with those kinda folks gets old after a while, so Ross went after a new challenge... Afghanistan. Now, Ross is no stranger to putting himself in harms way but the footage he brought back is unreal. He traveled with the British military to the front lines in Afghanistan to film Ross Kemp in Afghanistan.

Being the true patriot he is, Ross returned to Afghanistan for another tour with the British military. As you will see in the video, Ross is legit. He experiences some serious action and nearly gets blown up and shot a bunch of times. This an incredibly personal look into life in the military and on the front lines of a war that really has no end in near sight.

You can't get Ross Kemp on regular television in Canada but you can find it on the internetz. You won't be disappointed so check it out ... if you like that Ross Kemp On Gangs is just as good, here's a clip.

81st Oscars: Slumdog kicks ass...Rags to Rupees Story of the Year.

Well, the 81st Oscars went down last night and I have to come out and say that if you did not catch them, you didn't miss too much excitement. While they looked pretty and had some modern updates that weren't too shabby, there was still just an overall boring element to the show. So let me throw down a quick run of what I saw.

The Oscars:

Hugh Jackman did more acting in the first 5 minutes of the show then he has in all of the X-Men films combined, plus the wolverine prequel and the inevitable sequel to that.

Will Smith actually dropped the line, "Boom! goes the dynamite."

The Oscars love Beyonce more than Jay-Z ever could and will.

Jennifer Aniston looked beautiful and terribly awkward at the same time. Basically, she did not want to be there. It might have had something to do Brangelina sitting front row center.

Tilda Swinton scares the shit out of me and I doubt she is human. I'd bet that she actually might be the White Witch from Narnia.

Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Amy Adams and Natalie Portman looked fucking gorgeous.

I thought Ben Stiller was being kind of shitty making fun of Joaquin Phoenix, but then he started wandering around looking at the monitors and I laughed.

The Ledger Family's acceptance speech brought tears to 94% of those in attendance, Mickey Rourke would have cried, but he wouldn't even have been able to tell you what day it was.

Slumdog Millionaire cleaned house, grabbing 8 Oscars.

Kate Winslet's dad stole the show by dropping one hell of a whistle.

Conan's Last Show (Before he takes over for Leno)

Conan O'Brien's last 'Late Show' aired on Friday night. The host is set to take over 'The Tonight Show' from Jay Leno on June 1, 2009. In case you are unaware there is tension between the two hosts, as Leno's decision to start a new, earlier program has ruffled a lot of feathers in the O'Brien camp. I have to say that I am interested to see how all of this talk show shake up business will end up working out. Will change prove to be good? Or will we be left with a giant shit storm? Time, my friends, will tell.

Now of course Conan was going to have a few tricks up his sleeve for his final show. It had been rumored for a while that The White Stripes would show up to sing a tune. Well, THEY DID! Below, you will find the video of their performance, the last song on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien.'

How To Download Albums, Movies and Software FAST

It has occurred to me that some poor folks still choose to download Torrents or use Limewire, Sharebear, ARES and other services that can have you waiting upwards of days for movies and minutes for individual songs! Follow these steps and you'll be downloading like Dade Murphy in no-time.

In an age of cable internet, high-speed and wireless people are still happy with their wait times. When your cable provider tells you "lightning fast speeds" do you associate that with waiting 5 hours for a 700MB film? Not I, and neither should you. I am going to share some of my jewels with you, the ahhhfuckit audience and downloading Luddites.

Before we get rolling into the land of cyber-piracy and international espionage there is a tool you must get familiar with. There are others that I will go over in supplementary posts.

Tool 1: WINRAR

Winrar is a file compression tool that compresses data into smaller more manageable storage places. Think of it as a briefcase for clutter, we can't email folders to people but we can send .rar files. They are compressed a little tighter than ZIP files and are the preference of uploaders everywehre because it allows large movie files (.avi) to be split into multiple parts for our downloading convenience.

Now we can unlock the fruits of our labour. Where is this labour conducted? and Where are the fruits? These are really good questions because Limewire and Torrents are easy to search through ... just type in what you want and there you go. The same tricks apply here. This leads us to the next tool in the 3lit3 downloaders handbook.

Tool 2: Direct Upload/Download Sites

The problem with P2P is that you have to wait for seeders and speed and availability depend on how good their connection is, how good your connection is and how many people are sharing the file. With direct upload and download sites that is no longer a concern. Following a suggestion by Jugsy, this Certified Banger comes from the alternative rap duo known as The Knux. Brothers Krispy Kream and Rah Al Millio hail from New Orleans, but were forced to take the show on the road to Los Angeles following the Katrina incident. The track that has been selected is F!re (Put it in the Air). A clear BANGER and stand out from their debut album, Remind Me in 3 Days.

When you listen to the track or other songs by The Knux, you may be reminded of that other popular alternative rap duo known as Outkast. And if you read about the group, you are sure to be overwhelmed with the fact that they play their own instruments, as every article I have read about them champions the fact that the guitars found on their album were played by The Knux themselves.

The first time I heard this track, I was thinking, "Man, I could see this track being in an episode of Entourage because it reminds me a bit of a Saigon track." Then to my non-surprise I discovered that The Knux had in fact already been featured on a fourth season episode of the show with their other hit Cappuccino.

Blast From the Past: Happy Birthday Kurt Cobain, may he R.I.P.

Today, February 20th, 2009, Kurt Cobain would have been 42 years old. Whether you believe that he killed himself with a self inflicted gun shot to the head or whether he was the victim of a murder conspiracy, the fact remains that the man is no longer with us.

There really is no telling what Cobain would have been up to these days had he not died back in 1994 (Can you believe it was that long ago, it is 2009, wow). Would Nirvana still be together making music? I don't think so. Would he still be married to Courtney Love? I don't think so. Would he still be making music at all? I don't know. Would something else have killed him? Maybe.

What is really interesting though is that when Red and I had the idea to start up this blog, one of the first conversations I remember having was about Nirvana's Unplugged performance. We talked about how the set reminded us of a funeral service because of all the candles and flowers. We thought it was interesting that entire band looked, felt and played like it was their last show together. I mentioned that the setlist could be read as a suicide note with the most obvious evidence coming from the three closing selections.

The Meat Puppets: Lake of Fire (A song about the after life, possibly suggesting that he would end up in hell.)

All Apologies: (I don't think I really need to explain this one.)

Leadbelly: Where Did You Sleep Last Night? (A song about infidelity covered by a man with a whore for a wife, could he be hinting that Love was the cause of his pain?)

I believe it is really easy to read into things that have no ability to be proven true or not, but I also feel that sometimes it is fun to try and connect the dots, if for no other reason then to have a good conversation. I will say with confidence that Nirvana's Unplugged performance is by far the greatest in the series and really showcases the talent of everyone involved, although it does make Dave Grohl look like a knob and Cobain does come across as an asshole in the unedited version. In honour of our poll this week, I thought I'd throw up some talk show related clips. The first video I have included is Radiohead's Talk Show Host, which you might remember being featured in Romeo and Juliet way back when. I always liked the way the song was used in the film. The video features clips from the film running to the song, which is a bit cheesy, but I think it's actually done quite well.

The second clip features Jay Leno coaxing Jennifer Love Hewitt into doing push ups on his show. I have no idea what the deal was behind this display, but I can say Leno gained a few brownie points with me. I have to say it ladies, but great cleavage is great cleavage, so cheers to J.L.H. for celebrating those beauties and sharing them with a national audience. I've never really been a huge Leno fan, but if this is the type of shit that is going on during his show, then maybe I should tune in more often. Love Hewitt is a scorcher and though I could not tell you what the fuck she has been doing with her life since Party of Five, I will say I'd treat her to a nice steak dinner and make her pancakes in the morning anytime. Well another festival lineup has been announced. This time it is the Sasquatch Music Festival that takes place at The Gorge in Quincy, Washington. And like the other festivals this summer, (Coachella, Bonnaroo) the lineup is pretty damn solid. Here are the big names, which I am sure will draw out a crowd:

The second season of Flight of the Conchords continues to roll on and I have to say that I thought the last episode was brilliant. The episode featured what I think has been the best song to date of the second season. The song is entitled Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor and you can find it down below. As usual, the beat is catchy as hell and the lyrics are ridiculously hilarious. I will post some highlights for you.

As for the episode, I won't ruin it by giving too much away, but it revolves around Bret and Jemaine being forced by Murray to go Night Clubbing. Dave is already at the club and the song jumps in from there. Jemaine eventually falls into a hook-up with an Aussie chick and then all hell breaks loose. If you are not watching this show then stop reading this post right now, go stand directly in front of your mirror, pause, then ask yourself, "What the hell am I doing with my life?" A curious case indeed! Take a look at this video my lady friend sent me. It is a breakdown of Benjamin Button against Forrest Gump. FYI both screenplays are written by Eric Roth.

As a writer I can sympathize with Mr. Roth on how difficult it is to come up with completely original material and stories to tell. But Roth seemingly has found a winning formula with Gump and Button. Curiously similar and (somewhat)similarly successful. Curious indeed.

Blast From the Past: Chris Farley

Speaking of cocaine users, today, February 15 th was Chris Farley's birthday. I loved the shit out of Farley when I was kid. I mean who didn't? The man was larger than life and a comedic genius. He was also a man who was known to have a love for drugs which led to his early death, but man did this man shine while he was around. I actually remember the day he died because a friend of mine knew how much I liked Farley and cut out an article detailing the events surrounding his death and I was pretty torn up about it. I'd stay up and watch SNL all the time hoping to catch a Farley tirade and I was rarely disappointed.

I've included a few videos down below. The first features Farley on Letterman in an energetic interview. The second has him doing a skit with Tom Arnold that I had not seen until today and there are some good moments in there. I have to say when he yells at the woman is easily the best pick up attempt. I am not sure if anyone caught this live or not, but Joaquin Phoenix is getting quite the gossip stir for his appearance on Letterman last night. The clip that I have thrown down below shows Phoenix acting quite detached with Dave during his interview. Dave actually comes across as quite the asshole during the clip and I really have no idea whether this was planned or whether Phoenix is being serious. I've watched it twice and I haven't made up my mind yet. Many people are calling this a Kaufman rip off, but I'm not sure I buy that one yet. I must say I love the part where Phoenix calls out Shaffer and his maniacal laugh. So take a watch and let us know what you think. Was this a publicity stunt? Or is Phoenix really on tilt? Either way I think this will give his new film, Two Lovers, some more attention, so it might not be the worst idea he has ever had.

Last Sunday, some friends and I climbed to the top of La Huasteca Canyon here in Monterrey, Mexico. I wasn't much of a hiker before I came down here, but I've been trying to get out as much as I can before I leave this place. The view was gorgeous from the top and it was windy as hell, if hell had wind, which definitely added to the thrill of the climb. There really is something to be said for just getting out there into the so called wild sometimes and just taking it all in. Oops, I just said "taking it all in."

The picture here on your left shows us just before we started climbing and you can see that I am representing the Jays in full force with my throwback 92 cap and my shitty Jays backpack that I got for signing up for some shitty credit card. Basically, I threw this post up to say that hikes are pretty money and if you have the ability to 'unplug' for a bit on the weekends and go see something beautiful, then get off your fuckin' ass and go do it. It's well worth your time and you never know how much time you got left to do this sort of shit. Now, go climb something before I continue to bucket list the shit out of this post.

Danny sent me me this video soon after Skippy the Bush Kangaroo and I couldn't wait the full week to throw it up. I swear his picks keep getting better each time. I am not going to spoil this video by talking too much about it, but I will give you a brief introduction.

According to the You Tube file, this video comes from the findings of Dr. Peter Witt, who in 1965 gave drugs to spiders and observed their effects on web building. This short film about the results of the experiment was created by a First Church Of Christ, Filmmaker.

Last night, the 51st Grammy Awards aired and it was pretty clear that the show was trying to be more relevant than it has been in the past few years. Overall, I would have to say it was not a horrible way to kill some time on a Sunday night. Sure Coldplay won a ton of awards and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss grabbed Album of the Year, but that was expected. What you missed if you didn't catch the show was a couple of great performances and a bunch of celebrity screen shots during lulls in the program. Here is a rundown of what I though of the show, please feel free to comment if you agree or disagree:

Coldplay need to lose those Sgt. Pepper outfits and Chris Martin better watch out because Gwyneth was not only looking gorgeous, but is clearly ready to become a Radiohead groupie at any moment.

Who the fuck listens to Kid Rock Anymore?

For living in Australia, Nicole Kidman is the most pale woman on the planet, lending validity to the theory that she may in fact be a blood sucking vampire.

BLINK 182 is back together and will me making more music! Who gives a shit? That was the most anti-climatic reunion announcement in the history of music.

Kanye West is currently sporting the first Afro-Mullet that I have ever seen.

M.I.A. made it to the show and she looks like she is about to pop that baby out any second. 'Swagger Like Us,' which she sang on was the performance of the night, as Kanye and Jay-Z murdered it.

Radiohead's performance was great, Yorke looked passionate and I bet that big band sounded deadly in person.

Robin Thicke (Son of Alan Thicke, father on Growing Pains) does not look like he belongs to that voice, but he totally killed his part on Wayne's 'Tie My Hands.'

Big Bands were certainly in this year.

Lil Wayne's heel kick upon accepting his award was just plain shitty.

Our latest BANGER comes from Brooklyn's The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, whose eponymous debut album of melancholic jangle-pop has landed on the scene. Destined to be compared to the past and the lo-fi movement that has been resurrected in the indie world as of late, the band recalls the early work of My Bloody Valentine and Field Mice.

There are a couple of tracks worthy of BANGER status on the album, but I went with "This Love is Fucking Right," partly because it has the stronger name and also because it kicks ass. I love subtle, yet strong bass lines and this song has one.

I found a pretty sweet black and white video of the band performing the track at the Luna Lounge in Brooklyn, you can check it out down below and as always you can find the more polished version of the track on the sidebar. Enjoy...

Danny continues to top himself each week with his video suggestions. This week we have Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, who is pegged as Australia's answer to the Littlest Hobo.

Now, I might be wrong, but wouldn't that piano sound like shit, it looks like he is jamming the shit out of the keys, but I will say that the Roo can sure play a mean set of drums.

Don't let that greatest hits tag fool you on that picture of Moz on your left, the man has been busy so far this year in 2009. He just released his new disc Years of Refusal and the opening track entitled 'Something is Squeezing My Skull' has just landed itself on our BANGER list.

While reading Tom Ewing's review of the album on Pitchfork, I thought he nailed the album bang on when he stated that this album features a rejuvenated Morrissey equipped with a stronger emphasis on his vocals and an equally vigorous backing band. This track comes out blazing and features Morrissey in his usual bitter and self-loathing self, but there is a clear force driving him through this number. I love when the percussion picks up at the end during the outro and over Morrissey's rant of 'don't give me anymore,' we get some kick ass back up yelps. Yelps? Yelps, on a damn Morrissey song, it must be 2009. Check out the track on the side bar. I have a solid feeling that 2009 will be a great year for music, while apart from this Lil Wayne rock album that is going to stink up the joint. I've included a live video of the track below, it did take me a little bit to get it going though, but if you want to see ol' Moz up to his old tricks it is worth a watch, wait for the GONG show at the end. Now, upon first look at this lineup, I feel it really shows how the festival has morphed over the years from a Super Jam fest to Indie Showcase Galore. The Boss will ensure attendance ranges from teens to those with one foot in the grave and the Phish reunion will make the loyal die hards happy. Throw in that absolutely ridiculous middle of the lineup that features The Fuckin' BEASTIE BOYS, Animal Collective, Wilco, TV on the Radio, of Montreal and The Decemberists and you should have quite a show on your hands. Of course, you have to expect that some of those acts will overlap each other, but that is really unavoidable at any festival these days. While I haven't been in a few years, I've made the trip down to Manchester twice and damn were those great times. Whether you are kicking mud all over your buddies until they throw lemonade on you, running around drunk in between water fountains in the wee hours of the morning or just kickin' it in the medical tent, Bonnaroo has something for everyone. Oh yeah and the damn music is pretty fuckin' great as well. So, if you are able to get your ass down to Tennessee and you want to catch a great time, hit the Roo, you will not be disappointed.

The football season is done for another year and the Pittsburgh Steelers have emerged as Champions. In a game with lots of penalties and a few gems of glory, I can say that the second and fourth quarters were pretty great to watch. I was pulling for the Cardinals and they at least made it interesting.

SUPER BOWL 43 Observations:

Larry Fitzgerald is amazing and made the game worth watching. Though his father might actually be the next Earl Woods and Larry JR was probably beaten when he got home for not winning the game.

Santonio Holmes definitely got laid last night. I mean I'm still not certain he had that left foot in, but I would have given it to him as well.

Ben Roethlisberger was great when he had to be and a shit-box the rest of the time.

Bruce 'The Boss' Springsteen was as cheesy as Extra Creamy KD.

Now, lets take an extra hard look at Springsteen's performance. In short, I hated it and The Boss really let me down. First of all, where were the goddamn blue jeans? I mean I kind of expected him to come out in some faded denim and if we were lucky maybe a throwback bandanna. Besides his attire, his stage antics just about made me puke. From the stage sliding, to the piano leaping and closing it out with those theatrics with the referee, I hope I don't speak alone when I say I was ready to vomit up my pizza. It just felt anti-Springsteen and he looked like he was trying too hard to give everyone a great time. I mean the piano jump was uncalled for and don't even get me started on that shitty slide into the camerman, but I digress. Considering Bruce is already in the spotlight for that shitty deal that he signed with Walmart, this was his chance to rock the shit out of us, but I can't help but feel a little let down. Maybe I'm holding The Boss to too high of a standard, but that is the way I feel, so he is going to have to deal with it.

Poll Results: Which film should win Best Picture?

The poll results are in and we have another tie folks. This time, Fuck the Oscars, Frost/Nixon, Milk and Slumdog Millionaire have shared your votes. I'll admit I was pretty torn myself casting my vote and I could have easily went another way, which is good because it means that we have a solid crop of films on hand. After now viewing all the films, I won't be upset with any of the films getting the nod, though part of me hopes that The Curious Case of Benjamin Button doesn't get Titanic love. I still think Pitt does not deserve his Best Actor nod, but fuck it.
We are going to throw up a quick Super Bowl poll just to see who checks this blog out on Sundays, then I have an interesting idea for Monday for our next one. Stay tuned.
